This sweet, no stress sauce tastes like it simmered all day! It was a fresh alternative to normal tomato sauce and was super easy and quick to make.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (I used elk as it was what we had on hand)
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 pound plum tomatoes, diced
- 1 cup beef broth
- ½ cup red wine or additional beef broth
- 1 can tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons fresh minced rosemary (I had to use dry)
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 package refrigerated ravioli
Step 1: Brown the beef with the onion
Over medium/high heat scramble fry the beef and onion until beef is no longer pink. Meanwhile, start chopping those tomatoes, mince the garlic and prepare the beef broth (if using powder). When no longer pink, drain.
Step 2: Add remaining ingredients
Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth (and wine if using), rosemary, sugar, salt and garlic. Stir well, bring to boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.
Step 3: Prepare the ravioli
While the sauce is simmering, prepare ravioli according to package directions
Step 4: Serve and enjoy!
Top with a little bit of grated cheddar or Parmesan cheese if desired.
